In 2011, Galbraith and Associates began a multi-phase contract with the Oregon Department of Transportation to assist in the bridge and landscape aesthetics for the new Fern Valley Interchange in Phoenix, Oregon.

Galbraith and Associates joined with ODOT representatives, the City of Phoenix, and the community to develop an aesthetic theme to the interchange and a new bridge over Bear Creek. Through this process, the local community had input on what the outcome would be for this unique entrance into their community. After numerous public meetings and design sessions, a committee led by Galbraith and Associates finalized the overall design theme for the bridge’s aesthetics.

In the second phase of work on the Fern Valley Interchange, Galbraith and Associates worked closely with various departments within ODOT in preparing technical construction drawings and specifications for the bridge elements and adjacent native plantings. Among the ODOT departments our firm collaborated with were Structural Engineering, Hydrology, Environmental Specialists, and Civil Engineering.

During the current third phase of contract work, Galbraith and Associates is providing Construction Administration services and is working closely with ODOT staff to ensure that the final product reflects the desires and directions of the residents and City of Phoenix and to the greater whole of Oregon.
